The Egbert Marsh Trust was established in 1988 to manage a special piece of land that has been in our African American family for over 140 years. This land holds a rich history, including the ruins of the Carolina plantation, the site where Queen Breffu led the courageous 1733 St. John slave rebellion.
As the current Trustee of the Egbert Marsh Trust, Sheldon Marsh is dedicated to honoring the legacy of this land and its connection to a pivotal moment in history. By creating a park that preserves the Carolina plantation ruins, Sheldon aims to provide a space for education, reflection, and appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit.
